In just over a year, Mexem has transformed financial market trading in South Africa. Mexem is an introductory broker for Interactive Brokers, the United States’ largest electronic brokerage firm. Mexem has become the new standard, offering extremely low rates and an unprecedented range of markets to choose from.
Whilst building its footprint in South Africa, Mexem has ensured that it forges strong ties and contributes to the South African Jewish community. One of the company’s greatest sources of pride is that in its incredibly brief period of existence, it has had a major impact on the community. Mexem launched several noteworthy community-driven initiatives and has teamed up with one of the most important and respected Jewish institutions – the Johannesburg Chevrah Kadisha which has an immeasurable impact on the lives of countless Joburg Jews daily. Mexem has been at the forefront with the Chev and has participated in sponsoring a number of their important fund-raising events.
The Chev’s poker evening is one of these hallmark fundraising events that guarantees participants a fun time while also giving participants the satisfaction of knowing that their money will be going to an excellent cause. Such an event does require sponsorship and this past year Mexem was one of the event’s biggest sponsors.
Mexem’s partnership with the Chev included another of their important fundraising events from the past year: a premier of the highly acclaimed Matilda The Musical at the Teatro Montecasino. The musical was a spectacular retelling of one of Roald Dahl’s most beloved books.
This event was a smash, sell-out success that raised substantial funds for the Chevrah Kadisha.
In the spirit of entrepreneurship, Mexem organised for Uri Levine, the Israeli creator of Waze, to come and speak to select donors of the Chev. Waze is one of the best and most widely used apps on the market. These donors were privileged to hear Uri speak about his enormous success in Israel’s booming tech sector, entrepreneurship and business in general.
Beyond the Chev, Mexem teamed up with Sydenham Shul as the anchor sponsor of Yaakov Shwekey’s most recent South African concert. Yaakov Shwekey has become a fixture in the South African Jewish calendar and his latest visit, which was made possible due to Mexem’s sponsorship, was another roaring success as fans of his distinctively modern yet traditional Jewish song writing once again flocked to hear him perform.
Mexem’s involvement in these events is really only the beginning. As Mexem continues to grow, plans are afoot for the firm to expand its community-driven initiatives even beyond what it has already accomplished. One of the most exciting and most needed initiatives to be undertaken by Mexem during this coming year, though, is to expand its roles from facilitator and sponsor of community events to offering substantial investment advice and financial management to existing charities and Chesed organizations in the South African Jewish community. With the tough economic times that we currently face, Mexem will be stepping in to provide invaluable financial services to those institutions and organizations that help so many in our community by ensuring that every rand donated can be used to its maximum effectiveness.
Mexem is only just getting started…
